Sept. 12, 2007

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri State cross country will be back in action on Friday evening, at the Eastern Illinois Invitational in Charleston. The meet will take place at the Panther Trail Cross Country Course. The women's 5k race begins at 5:15 p.m., while the men's 8k race is scheduled for 6 p.m.

Teams competing with the Panthers and the Redhawks include Western Illinois, Southern Illinois - Carbondale, Southern Illinois - Edwardsville, Danville CC, Wisconsin - Madison (women only), McKendree and Missouri Baptist.

The Redhawks opened their season in good standing with a second place finish for the women and third place finish for the men at the USI Stegemoller Classic. After a week of intensive training, they look to improve their individual and team performances in this weekend's competition.

In addition, the new faces in the cross country programs are expected to make a tremendous impact on the team as they gain valuable experience in the upcoming meets.

Results from the meet can be found on www.GoSoutheast.com.
