Southeast Cross Country Finishes Greater Louisville Classic

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - (Monday September 26, 2005) On Saturday Morning the Redhawk's Cross Country team had their second race of the season. The men finished at 22 out of 35 teams that competed in the classic. The women finished at a tie for 6th place out of 32 teams. Other teams in the conference were Eastern Illinois, who finish eighth for the men, Morehead State, finished 12th in men and 14th in women, and Austin Peay, who finished 26th in men and 27th in women.

 

Leading the way for the men's 8,000 meter race was senior Gabe Lutes who finished 95 with a time of 26:31.30. The next finisher was Danny Stults (117th, 26:45.91), then Kirk Nesbit (129th, 26:55.86). Other men participants were Brad DeMattei (139th, 27:03.92), Chris Herren (174th, 27:27.91), Mark McNamara (186th, 27:35.74), and Cory Huskey (214th 28:06.60). There were 307 participants for the men's 8,000 meter race.

 

The women finished tied for sixth with Georgia State. Senior Jen Caywood (13th, 18.37.93) and Junior Lindsay Zeiler (14th, 18.38.33) finished 13th and 14th respectively giving the women two top 20 finishers. Other women racing were Amy Warren (55th 19:31.07), Juli Koenegstein (72nd 19:48.43), Hannah Korte (112th 20:11.03), Brittni Peck (125th, 20:18.76), and Sarah Verelst (172nd, 21:20.33). There were 272 participants in the women's 5,000 meter race.
