Cross Country Team Hosts Redhawks Classic

Oct. 15, 2008

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - The Southeast men's and women's cross country teams take to the course again after having the last week off. The Redhawks will stay home in Cape Girardeau to run in the Redhawks Classic on Friday at 5 p.m.

The meet will be held at the Jaycee Golf Course in Cape Girardeau. Teams competing with the Redhawks include the Memphis Tigers, and Eastern Kentucky women's team.

The Redhawks men's and women's teams are coming off a week of rest, and with a healthy rested team, the Redhawks could make a strong statement on Friday.

Leading the women are Senior Juli Koenegstein and Sophomore Monica Noble. Koenegstein ran her season best 5K time, 18.19:67, at the Greater Louisville Classic. Noble also had a strong finish in Louisville, taking the second best time for the Redhawks at 18.50:41.

With only two teams competing in the men's division, the Redhawks look to take top scores. Senior Brandon Karcher is coming off a Southeast leading time of 24.37:01 at the Louisville 8K race, good enough for a 23rd place finish. Freshman Nate Shipley and Junior Dustin Davis also had top times for the Redhawks at the Louisville Classic October 4.

Results will be available at www.gosoutheast.com following Friday's meet.
