BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – The Southeast Missouri State University men’s cross country team has been awarded the 2010-11 Ohio Valley Conference Team Sportsmanship Award.

Voted on by the student-athletes and coaches of the respective sports, the team awards are bestowed upon the Conference squads deemed to have best exhibited the standards of sportsmanship and ethical behavior as outlined by the OVC and NCAA. Included in the areas for evaluation are the conduct of student-athletes, coaches, staff and administrators and fans.

"I am proud of my men's team for being the recipients of this award," said ead coach Ryan Lane. "Our goal as a program is to be great athletes, but above even that, to be great people and great students. Our team is honored to have been chosen by our peers for this award."

The Southeast men’s cross country team finished second at the OVC Championships on October 30. They were led by a First Team All-OVC performance from Senior Jason Lumpkin, as well as three Second Team All-OVC efforts by Seniors Jason Lumpkin, Dustin Davis, and junior Nate Shipley.

The Redhawks return to competition on November 13 in Peoria, Ill. at the NCAA Midwest Regional Championships.
