Outlook: A returning 2nd-Team All OVC Pitcher from a season ago will be looked upon as the team’s top returning pitcher. Has awkward sidearm motion that devastates batters and awesome control that makes him deadly out of the bullpen as a closer.

At Southeast: Originally slated as the starting first baseman, but after troubles at the plate was turned into one of the league’s top pitchers…had team and league-best 2.95 ERA, while going 5-1 from the mound with three saves…got big wins at Saint Louis and at Arkansas, as well as a save in the NCAA Regional against Nationally Ranked Alabama.

Eastern Arizona C.C.: Transfered to Eastern after a sucessful stint at The Master’s College in Califorinia that saw him help the team to a spot in the NAIA College World Series.

Personal: Graduated in 1999 from Cascade Christian High School...was All-Conference four years, All-State two years...Conference Player of the Year three times...State Player of the Year once...also played basketball...a history major at Southeast...born 1.5.81... son of Claudio and Stephanie Alvarez...was also recruited by the University of Arizona...lists going to the NAIA World Series as the biggest sports thrill so far.
