J.C. Field is in his first season as a volunteer assistant baseball coach at Southeast Missouri State University. He comes to Cape Girardeau after playing minor league baseball for the Evansville Otters in 2007. Field played collegiately at the University of Missouri from 2005-06.

Field was the starting catcher for Missouri's Malibu Regional championship team in 2006. During the season, he hit seven doubles, four home runs with 24 RBIs. He also posted a .986 fielding percentage behind the plate. In 2005, he led the team in sacrifice bunts. He has handled many early round draft picks throughout his career and is known for his baseball knowledge. He currently works with Redhawks outfielders, catchers, hitters and pitchers.

Prior to playing at Mizzou, Field played for two seasons at Pima Community College in his hometown of Tucson, Ariz. In 2003 and 2004, he was named second team all-region and all-conference after batting .333 for a team that reached the conference semifinals in 2004.

Field graduated from Sabino High School in Tucson, where he was named to the All-Southern Arizona first team in addition to being a two-time all-conference selection for a team that was once ranked 7th in the nation by Baseball America. He helped the squad to a regional championship and trip to the state semifinals in 2001.

He is the son of Dennis and Carol Field and majored in Interdisciplinary Studies at Missouri. Field is single and resides in Cape Girardeau.
