At Southeast

2000: Had an outstanding campaign in his first year with the Indians as the closer...named OVC Rookie of the Year and first team All-OVC after setting a Southeast season record of 28 appearances...led the team and OVC with his 1.71 ERA...finished 2nd in the nation with his lean ERA...with two outs, batters hit just .155 against him...opposition hit a staff-low .208 against him... first Division I win came against Iowa State in 4-3 win...picked up three consecutive wins, including the victory vs. the Cyclones (2.20), on the road vs. Memphis (2.22) and at home vs. SMU (2.27)...averaged 10.1 K’s per game...in just one season he became the fifth all-time save leader with four.

At Three Rivers: Pitched at Three Rivers C.C. in Poplar Bluff, Missouri…selected to 1999 All-Midwest Community College Athletic Conference Team…quality starter at Three Rivers C.C. in 1998 and 1999.

Personal: A 1997 graduate of Lakeview Centennial....was an All-District 1994-97 pitcher, 1996 All-District outfielder, member 1997 All-State team for coach Eddie Henderson….Texas Scholar Athlete…member of National Honor Society...born 1.13.79…son of Ronnie and Robin Hilz…secondary education major…also recruited by Nebraska, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Miami (Fla.) and Arkansas...biggest thrill at Southeast was closing out the 8-7 win over Arkansas last season.
