Tyler Koonce is in his second year as a student assistant in the Southeast Sports Information Department. He currently serves as the primary media contact for baseball and assistant contact for football and men's basketball. He travels with to all away contests with the football and baseball teams and is responsible for the day-to-day media requests and creation of media guides for those sports while also contributing press releases to GoSoutheast.com.

In 2006-07, Koonce handled all the media relations for the tennis team and worked closely with the football team while also serving as a fill-in for the baseball squad. He served as the on-air color commentator for K103 FM KEZS for the football game at Missouri State and also on ESPN Radio 1220 AM KGIR during the baseball series at Eastern Kentucky.

Koonce is a member of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and National College Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA).

Currently a junior at Southeast, Koonce is majoring in Public Relations with a minor in Sport Management. He is scheduled to graduate in December 2009.

Originally from Lee's Summit, Mo., Koonce graduated from Lee's Summit North High School in May 2005. At North, he was a sports writer for Northern Exposure, the school's student newspaper. He also worked as an usher at Kauffman Stadium, home of the Kansas City Royals. He is the son of Richard and Kathy Koonce and has two older brothers, Ryan (28) and Shawn (27).
