Lance Rhodes is in his second season as volunteer assistant baseball coach at Southeast Missouri State University. Rhodes serves as the first base coach and works with the outfielders and pitchers. He joined the coaching staff after playing the last two seasons for the Redhawks.

Rhodes made 37 appearances for Southeast over two seasons. He finished with a 5-5 career record in 67 innings pitched for the Redhawks. He had 43 strikeouts in a SEMO uniform.

In 2008, Rhodes led all Southeast pitchers with 22 appearances and 43 and one-third innings pitche. He struck out 28 opposing hitters while allowing only 21 earned runs. His final victory came in the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament when he tossed seven and one-third innings of relief to lead the Redhawks past Tennessee Tech in the quarterfinal round. Rhodes also added a 5-inning scoreless relief effort with five strikeouts to earn the victory as Southeast came back to defeat Austin Peay in a crucial OVC series.

Rhodes also pitched for two seasons at Saint Louis University before transferring to Southeast. He made 21 appearances, including nine starts, as a member of the Billikens.

Rhodes is from nearby Sikeston, Mo., where he was an all-state and all-conference selection at Sikeston High School. He helped lead his team to the state tournament three times. He went 9-0 on the mound to go along with seven home runs and 33 RBIs as a senior. Rhodes was a high school teammate of current Los Angeles Dodgers infielder Blake DeWitt.

Rhodes graduated from Southeast in 2008 with a bachelor's degree in Secondary Education. He is currently pursuing his master's degree through Emporia State University.
