Final Stats

LAKE CHARLES, La. - (Sunday, February 19, 2006) The Redhawks baseballs team's offense finally came down to earth as four McNeese State pitchers combined for a five-hit shutout enroute to a 10-0 victory at Cowboy Diamond on Sunday afternoon. The Redhawks stranded nine batters as they never threatened the Cowboys lead.

After the Redhawks (1-3) stranded two runners in the top of the second the Cowboys (4-4) recorded two runs off of Redhawks starter Jamie McAlister in the bottom of the third. The Cowboys added three more runs in the fourth to chase McAlister who finished his day by allowing five runs (four earned) on five hits in only 3.1 innings of the work.

Reliever Josh Parham fared no better as he was knocked around for three runs despite not allowing a single hit in his one inning of work.

All together six Redhawks saw action on the mound but by the time the staff settled down it was too late.

McAlister (0-2) was credited with the loss while Cowboys pitcher Chris Denton (2-1) received the win.

Newcomer Phillip Riley collected three of the Redhawks five hits as he collected three singles in four at bats.

Next up for the Redhawks is their home opener this weekend against Jackson State starting on Saturday, February 25 with first pitch slated for 1:00 p.m.
