Jackson, Miss. - In his first Division I appearance, junior college transfer Mark Frazier, backed by an Indian offensive onslaught, notched his first win and helped Southeast Missouri State to a 13-4 victory over Jackson State.

Southeast (5-2) over-powered JSU pitching, smacking 14 hits, six of which were for extra-bases.

Frazier, who tossed an unofficial 76 pitches through seven innings, allowed just six hits, two runs - both of which were earned - and struck out four batters. Reliever Andy Davidson came in the last two innings to seal the win. The two combine for zero walks, a first on the season. Davidson was tagged with three hits, including a two-run homer in the eighth. He, too, finished with four strikeouts.

The Indians struck first with three runs in the top of the second after leftfielder Brian Hopkins notched his first hit of the season off a two-run homer. Zack Borowiak added the other run off a sac fly, which scored first basemen Shane Allen. Borowiak finished the night with three RBIs.

Southeast tacked on two more in the fourth before the Tigers finally scored in the bottom of the inning. Tiger lead-off hitter Michael Goss reached on a single, which was followed by a Ricardo Lee double. No. 3 hitter Brandon Tellis brought home Goss on a grounder to second. Lee then scored after Dwayne Jones reached an error by Hopkins. Centerfielder Vern Hatton saved another run from crossing the plate after he launched a missle from dead center to punch out Jones at the plate who had tried to score off a Jonovan Smith single.

The Indian's biggest inning was in the sixth, when third basemen Denver Stuckey drove in Clemente Bonilla and Brad Beatty off his double to left. Stuckey was driven in by rightfielder's Tristen McDonald's grounder to the short stop. The final blow was delivered by catcher Jeff Bourbon, who doubled to score base-on-balls victim Vern Hatton.

Bonilla, who has a team-high eight runs scored, recorded his first RBI after hitting a fielder's choice in the eighth to score Southeast's 13th run. The junior second basemen also was issued three walks tonight. He needs just 18 more passes to take over Southeast's all-time spot, which is currently held by Jeremy Johnson.

Pinch hitting for McDonald in the eighth, Brice Nicholas tallied his first hit of his career. And impressive style, too, it was a double.

McDonald, who has been suffering from a tender hamstring, finished the night 2-for-4 with three RBI. He was one of four Indian batters who collected two or more hits. Rookie Brad Beatty went 3-for-4 at the plate and scored three runs.

This is Southeast's second road win of the season and are 2-2 overall way from Capaha.

The Indians will have a big test tomorrow, as they square off against No. 18 South Alabama. Southeast is 2-3 all-time against the Jaguars from the Sun Belt Conference. It will be a homecoming of sorts for Southeast assistant coach Scott Southard, who played at USA from 1991-93.
