Jonesboro, Ark. - Junior Todd Pennington threw five-innings of work and gave up just one hit, as Southeast Missouri State blew past Arkansas State, 7-0. Pennington struckout five batters and walked six in the contest to earn his first win in four appearances.

Pennington, Mark Frazier and Jeffrey Hilz combined for the shutout. All three were charged with just one hit apiece. Frazier retained his unblemished ERA in the performance and Hilz sent 3-of-4 batters back to the dugouts on strikes.

After being limited to just five hits in the final game at South Alabama, Southeast exploded for 11 hits. Zach Borowiak led the team at the plate as he went 3-for-5 with three RBI and one run scored. His two-RBI double in the ninth inning helped the Indians seal the win. He would eventually score the seventh and final run of the game as Clemente Bonilla's single to right-center. Both players extended their hitting streaks to 10 games.

Southeast (6-4) got on the board first in the second when Brice Nicholas singled to left to scored Vern Hatton. Nicholas earned his second start of the season as rightfielder Tristen McDonald continues to experience hamstring strain.

Arkansas State (3-8) had a prime opportunity to score in the fourth after Pennington placed the first two batters on-base via walks. But, Pennington quickly cleaned up his mess by forcing the next two batters to pop-up and striking out Lane Strafford.

Leftfielder Brian Hopkins, who had just two hits in 23 at-bats prior to this afternoon, broke out with two hits, including a double, and three runs scored. Denver Stuckey also notched two hits, a sac fly and a stolen base.

This was the final game of a seven-game road trip for the Indians - Southeast's longest trip away from home this season. They will return home tomorrow, March 1, to face Division II Harris-Stowe at 2 p.m.
