Box Score

Stillwater, Okla. -- A day after being named Co-OVC Pitcher of the Week, RHP Todd Pennington tossed his first collegiate shutout en-route to Southeast Missouri State's 7-0 win over Division II Central Oklahoma.

Pennington (2-0) was near flawless over nine innings, allowing just three hits, walking just three batters and striking out a career-best 12 Bronchos. He has yet to allow a run to cross the plate in 15 innings after tossing six no-run innings at Arkansas State last week. Pennington's 12 strikeouts is a season team high.

Southeast (8-4) jumped on to the boards in the second inning after DH Brad Beatty doubled to right-center to score 1B Shane Allen and CF Vern Hatton, who had reached on a hit-by-pitch and walk, respectively.

A C Jeff Bourbon bomb to left field and a sacrifice fly to right from Allen to bring home Hatton scored the Indians next two runs in the fourth inning.

2B Clemente Bonilla cleared the rightfield fence in the fifth and notched his first home run of the season. The hit also extended Southeast's leading batter's hitting streak to 14 games. He finished the game 2-for-3 with one RBI and one run scored.

The Indians added the final blow in the seventh Hatton notched Southeast's first triple of the season and scored Bourbon and SS Zach Borowiak. Hatton, who has been in a bit of a hitting slump lately, went 2-for-2 with two runs scored and two RBI.

Borowiak also stretched his hitting streak, which now stands at 12 games. He closed the game with a lone single and the run scored.

Central Oklahoma, which was participating in its first contest away from its hometown of Edmond, fell to 9-5. Four UCO pitchers were on the mound for the Bronchos. Starter Coty Cooper (1-1) was tagged with the loss. He gave up four hits and four earned runs.

3B Denver Stuckey and Allen also finished with the contest with one hit apiece for the Indians. Stuckey, who moved into the lead-off spot four games ago, has notched a hit in each of those games.

Southeast, which drew six walks, is now 6-0 when they receive four or more free passes.

UCO had an opportunity to score in its half of the sixth. The Broncho's Rothy Briggs stranded two runners after grounding into the fielder's choice to end the inning.

Southeast will now face host No. 13 Oklahoma State at 3 p.m.
