OXFORD, Miss. (Wednesday, March 16, 2005) - Junior left-hander Eric Fowler struck out a career-high nine as three pitchers combined on a shutout as No. 14 (Baseball America) Ole Miss defeated Southeast Missouri State 3-0 Wednesday afternoon at Oxford-University Stadium/Swayze Field. The victory extended the Rebels' win streak to 10 games.

Redshirt freshman right-hander Jon-Jon Hancock pitched a scoreless eighth inning in his first career appearance, and sophomore Michael Wakefield worked a scoreless ninth to earn his first save of the year.

Ole Miss (15-3) scored all the runs it needed in the fifth inning. Stephen Head gave the Rebels a 1-0 lead with an infield RBI single to score Miles Franklin, who reached on a lead-off walk. Brian Pettway then followed with another infield single to load the bases and Alex Presley walked to force home Osteen and make it 2-0.

The Rebels added their third run with an RBI single by Cooper Osteen in the sixth.
