Richmond, Ky. (April 12, 2003) - The Tribe got 15 runs in game one, and nine in the second, but could only win one game today as they split an OVC double-header with the Colonels of Eastern Kentucky University today by the scores of 15-5 and 10-9.

The win in game one set the school record for consecutive wins at 14. The previous record was held by the 1973 Indians coached by Joe Uhls.

Southeast scored one in the first, three in the second and two in the third before Eastern even got on the board. The Colonels got a lone run in the third as designated hitter Robby Price broke Tim Alvarez's no-hitter with a homer to right center.

The Indians scored two more in the fourth and one in each of the fifth and the sixth as they got homers from Denver Stuckey, David Lawson and Brian Hopkins.

EKU got three more in the eighth to make the score 10-5, but Southeast jumped back on the Colonels and scored five more in the final frame capped off by another homer from Hopkins.

Alvarez pitched seven innings and struck out seven, five in a row at one point. He walked only two, and allowed just two earned runs on four hits. Korey Klein and Gary Gilbert pitched the final two innings of the game.

Game two started off with a bang as Stuckey singled to start the game. Hopkins then doubled to right center scoring Stuckey. Second baseman Justin Christian singled behind Hopkins scoring him. Southeast would get another run as a double steal allowed Christian to steal home.

EKU got one run in their half of the first and both teams were scoreless in the second. Shortstop Zach Borowiak homered to deep left field for the first of three runs in the third. The Tribe got one more in the fourth to run the lead to 7-2.

Eastern Kentucky scored five runs on one hit in the fourth inning before the Tribe got another run back in the fifth to take a one-run advantage at 8-7. The Colonels took a 10-8 lead in the sixth thanks to a homer from Steven Carter.

Southeast had their chances in the top of the seventh, as Borowiak led off the inning with a single to right. Gilbert singled behind him advancing Borowiak to second. Borowiak then moved over to third on a fielder's choice from Seth Moulton. Eric Hoffman singled up the middle for his second RBI of the game scoring Borowiak, but that was all the Tribe could muster as they lost game two 10-9.

The Tribe hit five homers on the day as Hopkins, Stuckey, Lawson and Borowiak all went deep. Borowiak was 6-9 on the day with a homer, three RBI and three runs scored. Hopkins went deep twice as part of a 5-8 day at the plate. He also added a double and three runs scored, as well as four RBI.

Southeast and EKU finish up the series tomorrow as they play a single, nine-inning contest at noon.
