Cape Girardeau, Mo. (May 8, 2002) - Junior pitcher Donnie Fuller and senior pitcher Mark Frazier combined today to shut down the 19th best offense in the nation as they limited the Tigers of the University of Missouri to just two runs in a 5-2 victory at Capaha Field. Southeast moved its overall record to 26-15, and Mizzou moved to 23-25.

Fuller and Frazier combined to allow two runs, one earned and strike out seven over the nine innings. Fuller went five to get his first win of the season, and Frazier went the final four to record his fourth save of the season.

Southeast got on the board first in the third and improved its record to 11-0 when doing so. The Tribe had two more in the fifth and two in the seventh as they put away the Tigers for the second time this season.

Southeast scored first as junior third baseman Denver Stuckey singled to start the inning for his second hit of the day. He they stole second and was advanced to third on a long fly ball to right field off the bat of junior shortstop Zach Borowiak. Senior centerfielder Vern Hatton then came up and laced a hard liner into the gap in left center to score Stuckey.

Stuckey once again started things off in the fifth as he doubled with one out down the left field line. Senior second baseman Clemente Bonilla followed that up with a double down the left field line of his own scoring Stuckey. Bonilla then advanced on a wild pitch and scored on a Borowiak single up the middle.

Southeast got its final two runs in the bottom of the seventh as with two outs, Borowiak singled up the middle and advanced to second on a passed ball. Hatton then singled into right field and advanced to second as the throw to home to cut down Borowiak was not in time. Junior catcher Tristen McDonald finished the scoring by singling up the middle to score Hatton.

Southeast got a 3-5 performance from Stuckey. He scored twice and stole his 14th base of the season. Hatton, Borowiak, and McDonald all had two hits and Hatton had two RBI's. Bonilla and freshman first baseman Eric Hoffman finished off the hitting for the Tribe.

The Tribe looked very good in this game as they got a gutsy pitching performance from Fuller and Frazier limiting a very potent offense to just two runs on seven hits. They now look forward to this weekend as they play host to a huge series against the Eastern Illinois Panthers and have a chance to clinch part of their first-ever regular season OVC Championship.

They will play a double-header on Saturday beginning at 2 p.m. and a single game on Sunday beginning at 1 p.m. This weekend will be Parent's Weekend for the players and will also feature Senior Day on Sunday.
