Tribe Gets Win in Rain-Shortened Day
Murray, Ky. (May 16, 2003) - Southeast got 10 runs over the first four innings as they cruised to a 13-8 win today in Murray, playing only one game of a scheduled double-header due to rain in the area. The Indians move their record to 28-18, 12-6 in the OVC, as Murray moves to 20-26, 9-9 in the conference. Gary Gilbert started the game off as he doubled down the left field line in the first. Zach Borowiak doubled behind him to score the game's first run. The Tribe got three more runs in the second and four in the third. Four hits in the inning and an error pushed across four Indian runners. Tristen McDonald tripled home Justin Christian in the fourth for his only RBI of the game. Seth Moulton then doubled behind him scoring McDonald. Moulton had a sac fly in the sixth for the Indian's 11th run, and Justin Christian doubled in the seventh to score the Tribe's final two runs. Murray scored two in the fourth and pushed across six in the ninth, but it was too little, too late as the Tribe picked up win no. 29. Tim Alvarez pitched three innings in relief of starter Jon Nourie to earn his 13th victory of the season, setting a new Southeast record. He allowed only one hit and how runs while striking out three. Nourie pitched four innings, allowing two earned runs on one hit, striking out six. McDonald and Christian were both 3-4 on the day as McDonald scored three times, and Christian drove in two. Denver Stuckey was 2-5 with two runs and two RBI. Seth Moulton was 1-3, but had three RBI and a sac fly. The Tribe and the 'Breds will continue the three game series tomorrow as they will play a double-header beginning at noon. Both games will be seven innings. |
