Southeast Advances in Tournament, Will Play EKU at 3:30 :: The Redhawks defeated Austin Peay 10-9

PADUCAH, Ky. (Friday, May 26, 2006) - The Southeast Missouri State baseball team defeated Austin Peay today in an elimination game in the 2006 O'Reilly OVC Baseball Tournament. The Govs rallied back to tie the game at eight with a six run seventh inning, but the Redhawks scored two in the bottom half of the inning to pick up a 10-9 win over the Governors.

Jordan Payne was 3-5 at the plate, and he recorded his third two-home run game this season. The senior shortstop hit a three-blast in the first and a solo home run in the fifth, as he led the team to victory with five RBIs.

The Redhawks continue play this afternoon in the loser's bracket. They will take on Eastern Kentucky in an elimination game beginning at 3:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on 1220 KGIR or via the Internet at www.kgir.com.
