OVC KUDOS Borowiak and Pennington earn first OVC weekly honors of the season. Cape Girardeau, Mo. (March 7, 2001) -- Southeast Missouri State baseball earned a share of the Ohio Valley Conference's first weekly honors of the 2001 season, as SS Zach Borowiak (So., Nashville, Ill.) and RHP Todd Pennington (Jr., McClure, Ill.) were named Co-Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively. Borowiak, who is in the midst of a 13-game hitting streak, is second on the team with a .439 batting average. He is leading OVC with eight doubles, four of which he hit last week. Against Arkansas State and Harris-Stowe, Borowiak was 5-for-10 at the plate with five RBI and one run scored. An All-American as a freshman last season, he is 10-for-23 this season with runners in scoring position. Pennington gave up just one hit and no runs over six inning in Southeast's 7-0 win over Arkansas State. It was his first win of the year for the junior, who struck out five. Southeast leaves for Oklahoma State today and will face Division II Central Oklahoma and the No. 13 Cowboys tomorrow and then close with Princeton on Friday at 11:30 a.m. -- SEMO -- |
