The Redhawks wll also host a three-game series this weekend against Arkansas-Pine Bluff. The sereies starts on Friday, and they will conclude it with a doubleheader on Saturday. SOUTHEAST VS. BETHEL COLLEGE: The Redhawks and Wildcats will meet for the first time in their school's history. The Wildcats, who play in the TranSouth Conference of the NAIA, are 13-7-1 so far this season. They have hit a total of 24 home runs in 21 games. Four of their regulars are hitting over .333, and they are led by Tyler Newman. He is batting .381 with a pair of home runs and five doubles. Meanwhile, their starter Jonathon Keck is a freshman left-hander making his second collegiate start. He has a 9.19 ERA through five and one-third innings pitched this season, and opposing batters are hitting .409 against him. TOUGH TEN: Offensively, the Redhawks have struggled as of late. Since the opening series at Jackson State, Southeast has scored just 39 runs in 10 games (3.9 runs per game). At the plate, they are hitting just .211 with a team slugging percentage of just .301, translating to a 5-5 record over the last 10 games. The bats have especially struggled against left-handed pitchers, as Southeast has just a .181 batting average against lefties in the span. In comparison, the team combined for a .276 batting average and .469 slugging percentage in the three games at Jackson State to start the season. FANTASTIC FIRST: Southeast has scored more runs in the first inning than any other frame so far this season. They are outscoring their opponents 13-3 in the first inning and 19-3 through the first two innings (6-0 in the second). The squad is hitting .302 in its first two trips to the plate, including 10 doubles, one triple and three homers. In the other seven innings, Southeast has scored just 39 runs compared to their opponents' 53 runs. As a team, the Redhawks are batting only .199 in innings three through nine. The fourth inning has been especially troublesome for the Redhawks: they have scored only four runs in the fourth this year with a team average of .133. START ME UP: The OVC-leading pitching staff has been led this season by its starting pitchers. Senior LHP Asif Shah, junior RHP Dustin Renfrow and freshman LHP Josh Syberg have been regular starters thus far. Meanwhile, senior RHP Phillip Riley and junior RHP Ivan Nails have each made one start on the mound. The pitchers have compiled a 5-1 record with a microscopic 2.31 ERA in 13 starts this season. They have also struck out 61 batters and issued just 19 walks. Eight of the 13 starts on the mound this year have been "quality starts."
