March 13, 2006

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (Monday, March 13, 2006) - After pitching his best game in his career on Friday against South Dakota State, Southeast right-hander Jamie McAlister was named the Ohio Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week. McAlister is the first Southeast pitcher to win the honor since Anthony Maupin earned the distinction in 2004.

The senior out of Piedmont, Mo. recorded his fourth career complete game on Friday against South Dakota State in his longest outing of the young season. McAlister allowed the Jackrabbits just one run on five hits, picking up his second win of the season in a 5-1 victory. He struck out a career-high 11 batters in the performance, and did not issue a single walk as 82 of his 109 pitches were strikes.

McAlister continues to lead the Redhawks starting rotation with a 4.76 ERA. He has made four starts in five appearances and holds a 2-3 record. In 28.1 innings of work, he has dominated batters with 30 strikeouts and issuing just five base on balls.

McAlister will lead the pitching staff this weekend as Southeast travels to Tennessee to take on Memphis University. Southeast will play games on Friday and Saturday at 4 p.m. and 2 p.m.
