Dustin Renfrow Named OVC Co-Pitcher of the Week

March 24, 2008

By Tyler Koonce, Baseball Contact

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. - Southeast senior right-hander Dustin Renfrow (West Plains, Mo./Jefferson CC) was voted Ohio Valley Conference Co-Pitcher of the Week Monday. Renfrow threw a complete game Sunday in the Redhawks 7-3 rubber match win against Tennessee Tech. He shares the award with Jacksonville State's Ben Tootle, who struck out 10 Murray State hitters Friday.

Renfrow gave up only four hits and one earned run during his complete game Sunday. He struck out six and walked only one. At one point, he retired 11 straight opposing hitters. He ranks seventh in the OVC with a 3.00 earned run average. In 24 innings on the mound, he has allowed only eight earned runs while registering 28 strikeouts.

This marks the second consecutive week that a Southeast pitcher has shared the weekley accolade. Last week, James Leigh (Bryant, Ark./Texarkana CC) became the first Redhawks player to earn a weekly honor this season. Renfrow won the award on three different occasions last season.
