Redhawks Baseball Inks Louis Haseltine for 2007 Season

April 17, 2006

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - (Monday, April 17, 2006) Baseball Head Coach Mark Hogan has announced the signing of St. Louis prep standout Louis Haseltine to a national letter of intent to play for the Southeast Missouri State baseball team in 2007. Haseltine was signed during the NCAA National Signing Day which started on Wednesday, April 12.

Haseltine has played outfield and first base for the highly touted DeSmet High School in St. Louis, Missouri this season. The natural lefthander bats right-handed and is one of the top hitters in St. Louis Metro Catholic Conference.

Last season as a junior he batted .390 with two homeruns and 22 RBIs in helping the Spartans to the Class 4 State Championship game where they finished as state runner-ups in one of the historically tough classes and conferences in the state.

"Louis will be a good player for us and we feel fortunate to have sign him," said Coach Hogan. "He has a great patience at the plate and sprays the ball to all fields. He's a team-player that will do the little things to put his team in winning situations."

Haseltine will join 11 other signees who will join the team in 2007. Those 11 future Redhawks signed during the NCAA Early Signing Period back in the fall.
