May 10, 2007

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - (Thursday, May 10, 2007) Southeast Missouri State baseball player Josh Parham (Jackson, Mo./Fort Scott CC) was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic First Team All-District baseball team for District 7, as voted on by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Parham, a senior left-handed relief pitcher, has maintained a 3.810 grade point average as a finance major at Southeast. Meanwhile, he has been one of the team's top relief pitchers in each of his three seasons as a Redhawks. This season, he boasts a 4-3 record with a 3.29 ERA in 17 appearances. The left-hander currently ranks sixth all-time among Southeast Missouri State pitchers with 61 career appearances on the mound.

Parham has earned Southeast Scholar-Athlete honors on numerous occasions, and last year he was awarded the OVC Medal of Honor, along with former Southeast player Cory Justice, for achieving the highest grade point average among all baseball players in the Ohio Valley Conference last year.

The First Team distinction automatically qualifies Parham for ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America honors. All-America baseball teams will be announced Tuesday, May 29.
