CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO. -Southeast Missouri State senior outfielder Michael Adamson has been named to the Capital One Academic All-America® Baseball Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Adamson was a third-team selection.

Adamson is the 25th Southeast Missouri student-athlete to earn Academic All-America honors since the school joined the OVC in 1991 (the program has also had 10 additional Academic All-Americans prior to joining the OVC or in sports not sponsored by the league). There have been 30 OVC baseball players named Academic All-America all-time.

Adamson carries a 3.78 grade point average in education. In 52 regular season games this season he hit .365 with 77 hits, 59 runs, 10 doubles, seven home runs, 36 RBI and 14 stolen bases. Adamson had a .512 slugging percentage and a .432 on-base percentage and did not commit an error in the field. He helped the Redhawks to a 32-20 overall record and 14-8 mark in the OVC, which earned the team the No. 2 seed for this week's OVC Tournament.

To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution, be nominated by his/her sports information director and be a first-team selection at the district level. Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 15,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA, covering all NCAA championship sports.

The Academic All-America® program currently selects 12 teams at the University Division level and 12 teams at the College Division level.
