Dustin Pritchett Named to the OVC All-Tournament Team
May 29, 2006 PADUCAH, Ky. - (Monday, May 29, 2006) The Ohio Valley Conference announced that junior outfielder Dustin Pritchett was named to the 2006 O'Reilly OVC Baseball All-Tournament team. The Kennett, Missouri native started all four games for the Redhawks, batting .333 (5-14) with a double, one homerun, four runs scored and six runs batted in as the Redhawks finished fourth as the No. 6 seed at last week's tournament. He hit safely in three out of the four games. Pritchett started the tournament with his first career four-RBI game in the Redhawks (23-33) 7-6 upset over No. 3 seed Eastern Illinois in the tournament's first round. He went 3-4 at the plate highlighted by two-run double. He scored one run and reached base four out of five plate appearances drawing walk to go with his three hits. He also stole a base to make him a perfect 6-6 in swipes this season. Mid-game he made the transition to centerfield, the first time he had ever played the position, and played flawless with five putouts. In the Redhawks 14-10 loss to No. 4 seed Eastern Kentucky, Pritchett went 1-5 with his second homerun of the season. His two-run shot in the sixth inning went an estimated 415 feet over the left-center field fence. He recorded his first outfield assist of the tournament when he threw out the Colonels Joe Oliver at the plate from centerfield. For the tournament he was perfect in the outfield with 13 putouts and one assist. Pritchett ended the 2006 season third on the team with a .319 batting average in 45 games (37 starts). He led the team with two triples and stolen base percentage. He ranked third on the team with 14 doubles and a .489 slugging percentage. He added two homeruns, 22 runs scored, 22 RBIs and a .407 slugging percentage. He collected 10 multi-hit games including a team-high six three-hit games. He also had six multi-RBI games. Playing the outfield for the first time in his career this season Pritchett was perfect with a team-high 1.000 fielding percentage. He recorded 75 putouts and a team-high four outfield assists. |
