Tucson, Arizona (May 30, 2003) - Senior's Tim Alvarez and Justin Christian were named to the third team of the TPX/Collegiate Baseball Newspaper's All-American Team as announced by the paper today in Tucson.

Alvarez was 14-3 this season as he was named the Ohio Valley Conference's Pitcher of the Year. He was twice named the Pitcher of the Week in the league, and was named the National Pitcher of the Week by Collegiate Baseball after throwing the first-ever no-hitter in OVC Tournament history last week.

His 14 wins is a Southeast record and ties an OVC mark. He is tied for the national lead in that category. He had the league's best ERA for the second-straight season at 2.74 and led the OVC in wins, ERA, opponent's batting average, innings pitched, complete games and shutouts, while being second in strikeouts and runners picked off.

Justin Christian was the Rookie of the Year this season in the OVC after finishing in the top ten in ten different categories. He was second in stolen bases, third in triples, fourth in homers, fifth in hits, runs, slugging, and total bases, seventh in RBI and batting average and tenth in on base percentage. Overall, he was second on the team in batting average with a .376 mark and third in homers and RBI with 13 and 48, respectively.

The two join Eastern Kentucky's Josh Anderson (first team) and Neil Sellers (third team) in being the only representatives from the OVC.

The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association All-Region teams will be announced on July 5, with the All-America team announced on July 9. The American Baseball Coaches Association All-Region teams will be announced before the College World Series with the All-American Team announced in Omaha.
