Southeast Baseball to Hold Summer Instructional Camps

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri State baseball will be holding four two-day camps in the month of July at Capaha Field in Cape Girardeau, Mo., under the direction of assistant Redhawks baseball coach Chris Cafalone.

Camp one will be a hitting camp for boys and girls ages 8-12 held on July 7-8, 2008. Instruction will be set around hitting mechanics and hitting drills for the two-day camp. The camp will run from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. each day, and the cost of the camp is $75.

Camp two will be a fundamental camp for boys and girls ages 8-12 held on July 9-10, 2008. Instruction will be set around throwing, fielding, base running and team play. The camp will run from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. each day, and the cost of the camp is $75. For campers ages 8-12 who would like to attend both camps, the cost will be $140.

Camp three will be an Intense Hitting Camp for boys ages 13-18 held on July 14-15, 2008. The camp will run from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Hitting instruction will be set around mechanics, drills, on-field hitting, opposite field hitting, situational hitting and mental approach of hitting. The cost of the camp is $75.

Camp four will be an Intense Pitching Camp for boys ages 13-18 held on July 16-17, 2008 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The camp will be set around pitching mechanics, delivery mechanics, arm care, pick-off footwork and mental approach. The cost of the camp is $75. For campers ages 13-18 who would like to attend both camps, the cost will be $140.

Cafalone has served as an assistant baseball coach at Southeast for the last two seasons, during which he has coached a Redhawks defense that has posted new school records for fielding percentage in consecutive years. He serves as the team's hitting instructor and infield coach while also working with the catchers. Prior to joining the Southeast staff, he was the head coach at Barry University for six seasons and head coach at Onondaga Community College from 2001-06.

Registration for the camps will begin on the first day of each camp - July 7, 9, 14 and 16 - at 8;30 a.m. at Capaha Field.
