July 26, 2007

Cape Girardeau, Mo. - Southeast Missouri State University head baseball coach Mark Hogan will throw out the first pitch at the Southern Illinois Miners game with Traverse City on Saturday at Rent One Park in Marion, Ill.

It will be Southeast Night with the Miners with Southeast alums gathering for the Frontier League game. The Miners, in their first season, lead the Frontier League in attendance with over 5,200 attending each game at the new ball park.

Hogan, who became Southeast Missouri's winningest baseball coach during the past season, has a record of 387-322-1 in 13 years as Redhawks head coach. "I think it is great to have a minor league team in our area and I'm very happy that the Miners have been a success not only on the field but in fan acceptance and attendance," Hogan said. "I attended a Miners game earlier this summer and really had an enjoyable experience. We look forward to visiting with a lot of Southeast alums on Saturday night."

Game time on Saturday is 7:05 p.m. with Hogan throwing out the first pitch in pre-game ceremonies. Rent One Park is located at the intersection of Illinois Route 13 and Interstate 57 in Marion.
