Redhawks Baseball Signs Jesse Tierney to National Letter of Intent

Nov. 15, 2007

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - (Thursday, November 15, 2007) Head baseball coach Mark Hogan announced the second signee for the Redhawks during the early signing period. Jesse Tierney, a catcher at St. John Vianney High School in St Louis, Mo., has committed to play for Southeast Missouri State for the 2009 season.

Tierney, a 6-1, 180 pound left-handed hitter, batted .364 with 12 doubles and one home run as a junior last season. He is a former teammate of current Redhawks players Jim Klocke and Josh Syberg. Tierney also helped lead Vianney to a 2004 Class 4A State Championship during his sophomore year.

"Jesse is a player that is going to continue to improve thanks to his tireless work ethic. He projects very well as an everyday player, and with maturity he can be a dominant hitter at the Division I level," Hogan said. "Jesse is a tremendous young man, and he can make an immediate impact for us during his first season".

Tierney played for former Southeast Missouri State baseball player and major leaguer Steve Bieser. He is the son of John and Kathy Tierney. He will be majoring in Business at Southeast.
