Kyle Gerdeman enters his second year as an assistant coach at Southeast Missouri State.

Gerdeman hails from Wright City, Mo., and oversees post player development, scheduling and serves as the Redhawks recruitingcoordinator.

A 1998 graduate of Southeast, Gerdeman began his first Division I coaching job last year.

Gerdeman returned to Cape Girardeau after working three years as head coach at Moberly Area Community College. Prior to that, he was an assistant coach at Mineral Area College (2004-06), Moberly (2001-03) and East Central College (1998-2001).

Gerdeman helped recruit and develop 23 NCAA Division I transfers, including the 2005 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Player-of-the-Year (Eddie Smith). He also mentored five NJCAA All-Americans and won three Region XVI championships -- two as an assistant at Moberly -- at the junior college level. Gerdeman led Moberly to a fifth-place finish in the 2002 NJCAA National Tournament.

With over 12 years of coaching experience, Gerdeman has strong connections to high school, junior college and AAU coaches in the state of Missouri.

After graduating from Southeast in 1998, Gerdeman obtained his Master's degree in Education from Central Methodist University. His father, Dave, was a long-time high school basketball coach in Missouri. Dave coached at three different high schools, including Winfield, Wright City and Fort Zumwalt North, during his career.

Gerdeman and his wife, Angie, have two children, Alyssa (10) and Karson (2).
