Southeast Missouri Beats Eastern Kentucky 88-74
Jan. 3, 2007 Richmond, Ky. - Freshman Roderick Pearson recorded his first collegiate double-double with 22 points and 11 assists to lead Southeast Missouri State to an 88-75 road Ohio Valley Conference win over Eastern Kentucky. The Redhawks trailed by nine points at the half and fell behind by 11 early in the second half before roaring back with a 16-5 run to tie the game at 48-48. Terrick Willoughby then scored seven straight points to put the Redhawks up 57-51. The Redhawks, 4-11 overall and 2-4 in the OVC, ended a six game losing streak with outstanding shooting from three and from the line. Southeast hit 13-22 treys and 17-21 free throws. Pearson was joined by three other players in double figures with Willoughby, Brandon Foust and David Johnson all scoring 14 points each. Eastern Kentucky, 8-5 and 3-2, was led by freshman Adam Leonard with 17 points. The Redhawks will host Eastern Illinois at the Show Me Center on Thursday, 7:30 p.m. |
