FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) - Junior guard Brett Hale's basket with two seconds remaining helped Southeast Missouri overcome a second-half comeback by Indiana-Purdue-Fort Wayne for a 77-75 victory on Saturday.

Hale's game-winning shot came 17 seconds after IPFW's David Simon tied the game at 75 with a layup for his second basket in just over a minute.

Southeast took a 51-40 lead at the half after shooting 64 percent from the field. The Indians (7-4) won despite being outscored 35-26 in the second half by the Mastodons (2-11).

Hale, who finished 5-for-6 from the field, finished with 15 points. Dainmon Gonner led the Indians with 18 points on 6-for-11 shooting, and Derek Winans had 16 points.

The Mastodons' Simon scored 22 points and grabbed 15 rebounds, and Terry Collins added 20 points.

Southeast opens up Ohio Valley Conference play January 8, playing host to Austin Peay at the Show Me Center. Game time is slated for 7:30 p.m.
