Austin Peay Edges Redhawks in First Place Battle

Clarksville, Tenn. - Drake Reed and Fernandez Lockett each scored 23 points to lead Austin Peay to an 85-82 win over Southeast Missouri State in a battle for first place in the Ohio Valley Conference.

The Governors, 11-7 overall and 6-2 in the OVC, jumped to a 13-2 lead at the start, but Southeast battled back to trail by only 46-38 at the half.

In the second half, Southeast went ahead 60-59 on a jumper by Jaycen Herring and after a basket by Calvin Williams the Redhawks were up by three which was their biggest lead of the night.

The game remained close to the end with the Redhawks last lead at 77-75 with 3:36 remaining.

Will Bogan led Southeast with 17 points while Herring and Marcus Rhodes added 13. Brandon Foust had 10 points for the Redhawks before suffering a knee injury on a dunk with 11:31 remaining in the game.

Southeast will play at Tennessee State on Thursday and at Tennessee Tech next Saturday.
