CHARLESTON, Ill. (AP) - Derek Winans scored 29 points as Southeast Missouri had its best offensive outing this year and beat Eastern Illinois 84-64 Tuesday night in Charleston, Ill.

Southeast Missouri (8-6, 1-2 Ohio Valley Conference) took a 33-31 lead at the half and went on an 18-2 run to take a 51-35 lead with 13:54 left in the game. Winans, who was 12-of-16 from the field, scored 21 of his points in the second half. Winans got help from Dainmon Gonner with 17 and Brandon Griffin who added 12. The Indians converted 21-of-33 from the field in the second half, good for 63.6 percent.

Eastern Illinois (3-10, 1-2) was led by Aaron Patterson, who was 9-of-11 from the field, with 18 points. Josh Gomes added 12 and Jake Sinclair had 10.

The 29-point performance by Winans was a season high for any Southeast player this season, as were his 12 field goals made. Winans has been hot as of late. He has averaged 19 points per game in his last four outings.

Southeast also shot a season-best .550 from the floor, incuding 44.4 percent from long range.

Southeast's next matchup will be at home Thursday night against Tennessee State. The game will be at 7:30 p.m. at the Show Me Center.
