Southeast Loses Double-Overtime Thriller at Tennessee State

Nashville, Tenn. - Tennessee State converted 33-37 free throws and forced 26 Southeast Missouri turnovers in posting a 105-101 double-overtime win at the Gentry Center. The win gives TSU a record of 7-10 overall and 2-1 in the Ohio Valley Conference while Southeast falls to 6-9 overall and 1-3 in the OVC. Southeast led 48-37 at the half and increased the lead to 18 points at 59-41 with 15:44 remaining. Tennessee State battled back and tied the game with three-seconds remaining on a 3-pointer by Herley Maclin. Tennessee State led late in the first overtime, but Dainmon Gonner, who had 37 points and 12 rebounds for Southeast, tied the game with a 3-pointer forcing a second overtime. Tennessee State took advantage of missed Southeast free throws to outscore the Indians 8-4 in the final overtime. Derek Winans had 19 points for Southeast while Reggie Golson and Terrick Willoughby each had 17. Golson, who fouled out with 3:41 remaining in regulation time, also had 11 rebounds. Bruce Price led TSU with 30 points including 18-20 from the free throw line. Southeast will return to action on Thursday, Jan. 20, 7:30 p.m., hosing Tennessee Tech. On Saturday, Jan. 22, 5 p.m, Southeast will host Austin Peay in a televised game that will feature the debut of the new Redhawk mascot.
