Indians Drop OVC Overtime Tilt To Tennessee-Martin, 88-80

CAPE GIRARDEAU (AP) - Joey Walker scored 22 points, overcoming a knee injury in regulation to help Tennessee-Martin to an 88-80 overtime victory Thursday night over Southeast Missouri St. in Ohio Valley Conference play.

Southeast Missouri had never trailed during regulation but was pushed into overtime when Tennessee-Martin's Okechi Egbe rimmed in a 3-pointer with 8 seconds left in the second half, tying the score at 69.

Southeast led 73-71 with 3:42 to go in overtime, but the Skyhawks outscored the Indians 17-7 the rest of the way.

Walker, who missed 10 minutes of the second half after injuring his knee," made nine of his 11 shots from the field overall for the Skyhawks (10-4, 3-0 OVC).

J.C. Howe had 18 points and 12 rebounds for Tennessee-Martin. Jeremy Kelly, whose 3-pointer with 2:36 to go in overtime gave the Skyhawks their first lead of the game at 75-73, added 17 points. Earl Bullock had 12 points and Egbe 10.

Damarcus Hence led Southeast (6-9, 1-3) with 22 points. Brandon Griffin added 17 points and 11 rebounds. Tim Scheer had 15 points, Brett Hale 14 and Derek Winans 10.

Southeast jumped to a 22-12 lead and led 35-31 at halftime. Tennessee-Martin tied the score at 37 with 18:41 left in the second half before Southeast peeled off 10 unanswered points over the next four minutes.
