Quick Start Propels Tennessee Tech Past Redhawks

Cookeville, Tenn. - Tennessee Tech jumped to a 12-2 lead in the first three-minutes and then cruised to a 93-76 Ohio Valley Conference win over Southeast Missouri State.

The Golden Eagles, who outrebounded Southeast 51-38, controlled the offensive glass at the start of the game. After Rod Pearson put Southeast up 2-0, Tech went on a 12-0 run to lead 12-2 with 16:41 remaining in the half. The Golden Eagles led 46-34 at the half and led by as many as 23 points in the second half.

Senior guard Anthony Fisher led Tech with 21 points while senior forward Amadi McKenzie chipped in a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Daniel Northern also had a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds as the Golden Eagles moved into a third place tie in the OVC with a record of 6-4. Tech is 9-11 overall.

Southeast Missouri, 11-9 overall and also 6-4 in the OVC, was led by Jaycen Herring with 17 points while Pearson had 14 and Kenard Moore 11. Freshman post man Will Bogan had 10 points, 7 rebounds and 4 blocked shots.

The Redhawks will seek to end a four-game losing streak Thursday night when they host Morehead State at the Show Me Center. It will be Rowdy's birthday party with Mascot Madness with mascots from area businesses joined by mascots from the Southern Illinois Miners minor league baseball team to celebrate Rowdy's birthday.
