Men's Basketball Open Redhawks Era With Win

Final Stats

Dainmon Gonner and Reggie Golson combined for 43 points, 15 rebounds, six steals and four blocks to lead Southeast Missouri State to a 65-52 win over Austin Peay.

Playing the first game under the nickname of Redhawks, Southeast was led by Gonner with 23 points and five steals while Golson had 20 points, eight rebounds and four blocks. Ryan Belcher also scored in double figures with 10.

Southeast, 7-10 overall and 2-4 in the OVC, led 28-27 at the half, but Austin Peay came back to take the lead a 44-41 with 9-minutes remaining. Golson scored four straight points to put Southeast back in the lead and the Redhawks never again trailed.

Austin Peay, 5-12 overall and 3-2 in the OVC, was led by Zac Slader with 14 points while Anthony Davis added 12 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Southeast will continue a four-game home stand by hosting Jacksonville State on Thursday and league leading Samford on Saturday. Both games will begin at 7:30 p.m.
