Cape Girardeau, Mo. (January 24, 2002) - Southeast Missouri State opened the game on a 15-2 run and led 29-23 at the half, but Tennessee Tech opened the second-half with six-straight three pointers and eventually defeated the Indians by a score of 75-62.

Southeast (3-15, 1-6) was up 26-21 with 2:54 left in the first half before junior center Drew DeMond went down with an knee injury, and didn't return to the game. The injury was described as a sprain, but trainers would not know anything further until the swelling goes down.

The Indians came out and performed well without their captain and kept the game close for the first part of the second half, but were overmatched by the speedy Tech offense that eventually knocked out the Indians.

Tech (13-4, 6-0) got its first lead with 18 minutes remaining in the game at 31-29 and didn't look back. They eventually were up by 15 with 6:15 left in the game and eventually won by 13.

Southeast was led in scoring by junior forward Tim Scheer with 22 points and five rebounds. Sophomore guard Demarcus Hence had 16 points and freshman guard Derek Winans had 11 points and eight rebounds.

Tech was led by Brent Jolly as he had 21 points and four rebounds as he was 4-7 from behind the arc. Damien Kinloch had 15 points and five rebounds and Jason Harrell had 12 points. Cammeron Crisp had 10 points for the Eagles.

Southeast next plays host to the Govs of Austin Peay this Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Show Me Center. The game will be televised nationally on Fox Sports South.
