Indians Defeated By Austin Peay, 62-49

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Josh Lewis scored 23 points and blocked six shots as Austin Peay defeated Southeast Missouri 62-49 Saturday.

Austin Peay (10-6, 3-2 Ohio Valley Conference) went on a 12-3 run in the closing minutes sparked by two layups and two free throws by Lewis to take a 60-47 lead with 36 seconds left.

Southeast Missouri (7-11, 2-4) had stayed close throughout, trailing by four, 48-44, after two free throws by Derek Winans with 6:02 remaining before the Governors' run.

With 16:29 to play, Brett Hale hit a 3-pointer to put Southeast Missouri up 31-28.

But Austin Peay answered with a 9-0 run, getting 5 points from Lewis and 4 points from Anthony Davis to give the Governors a lead, 37-31, that they never relinquished.

Davis finished with 20 points to complement Lewis' 9 of 10 shooting performance from the field.

Tim Scheer scored 15 points to lead Southeast Missouri.
