Murray State Defeats Redhawks 76-69

Cape Girardeau, Mo. - Murray State placed all five starters in double figures in gaining a 76-69 Ohio Valley Conference win over Southeast Missouri State. The Racers, 13-5 overall and 10-2 in the OVC, led 35-33 at the half and held off several Redhawks comeback attemtps in the second half.

Southeast Missouri, 6-13 overall and 3-10 in the OVC, stayed with the league leading Racers in the first half by hitting 19-19 free throws while shooting just 28% from the field. In the second half, the Redhawks shooting imporved, but Murray had the answer for each Southeast rally.

Trey Pearson led the balanced Murray State attack with 17points, Shawn Witherspoon added 14, Pearson Griffith 13, Justin Orr 11 and Darnell Hopkins 10. The Racers shot 54% from the floor and 39% from three.

Roy Booker again led Southast with 26 points including 12-12 from the line. Terrick Willoughby had 12 points, Andrais Thornton 11 and Paul Paradoski 10.

The Redhawks will attempt to end a six-game slide when they meet Austin Peay on Monday, 7:30 p.m., at the Dunn Center in Clarksville, Tenn.
