Southeast Loses Third Straight

JACKSONVILLE, Ala. (AP) - Carl Brown recorded his second career double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds to lead Jacksonville State to a 79-64 Ohio Valley Conference win over Southeast Missouri.

Scott Watson scored 16 points, followed by Russell Walker's 14 and James Denson's 13 for the Gamecocks (10-9, 3-5)

The Gamecocks jumped out to a 10-2 lead over the first five minutes of the game and Southeast Missouri (9-9, 2-5) never got within five points.

Jacksonville State shot 52 percent in the first half to build a 33-24 lead at halftime. The Gamecocks came out and pushed the lead to 39-24 in the first two minutes of the second half on a layup by Walker with 18:49 left.

The Indians came back to cut the lead to 11 points with 16:11 remaining on a jumper by Brandon Griffin, but the they would get no closer.

Watson hit a layup with 13:15 left as the Gamecocks built a 52-34 lead.

Derek Winans led the Indians with 15 points, and Brett Hale added 11 points. Brandon Griffin and Dainmon Gonner each scored 10 points.
