Indians Get Past Tennessee Tech, 75-71, In OVC Action

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (AP) - Derek Winans scored 28 points and Brett Hale had 20, helping Southeast Missouri hold off Tennessee Tech 75-71 in Ohio Valley Conference play Saturday night.

Tim Scheer added 12 points, and Brandon Griffin contributed 10 points and 14 rebounds for the Indians (9-11, 4-4 OVC).

Winans hit half of his eight 3-point attempts for Southeast Missouri, who finished 10 of 20 from behind the arc, 23 of 50 - 46 percent - overall.

The Indians jumped to a 22-10 lead en route to a 32-24 halftime margin, after shooting just 37 percent from the field but forcing 14 turnovers.

Southeast Missouri extended the second-half margin to 18 points before the Golden Eagles closed to within three points with a minute left.

Cameron Crisp had 26 points on 10-of-19 shooting for the Golden Eagles (12-9, 5-3), and Damien Kinloch added 15 points and 14 rebounds.

Tennessee Tech outrebounded the Indians 37-25 but missed nine of its 13 3-point attempts.
