Redhawks Beat Morehead State 81-78

Cape Girardeau, Mo. - Senior guard Terrick Willoughby led four Southeast Missouri State players in double figures as the Redhawks held on to defeat Morehead State 81-78.

The win got Southeast to the .500 level in Ohio Valley Conferece play with a record of 8-8. Overall the Redhawks are 10-15. Morehead State is 10-13 overall and 6-9 in the OVC.

Willoughby, who was 4-6 from three, had 17 points. He did most of his damage in the first half when he had 16 points including 4-5 from three and 2-2 from the line. Also in double figures for the Redhawks were Brandon Foust with 14, Roderick Pearson with 13 and Michael Rembert with 10. Marcus Rhodes and David Johnson each had nine points.

The Eagles, who lost for the seventh straight time, were led by Quentin Pryor with 16 points.

Southeast led 45-36 at the half, but Morehead rallied in the second half and led by as many as four points at 68-64 with 7:38 remaining. The game was tied 75-75 with 2:44 remaining, but a 3-pointer out of the corner by Foust put the Redhawks up 78-75 and they never trailed again.

Southeast shot 51% from the field, 50% from three and 84% from the line.

The Redhawks will be back in action on Saturday, 6 p.m., when they host Eastern Kentucky in a game that will be nationally televised by ESPNU.
