Morehead State Upsets Redhawks

Final Stats

Morehead, Ky. - Morehead State shot a blistering 62% from the field, 67% from three and 87% from the line to post an 88-66 upset Ohio Valley Conference win over Southeast Missouri State.

The Redhawks are now 13-12 overall and 8-6 and in sixth place in the OVC, but remain just one game out of second place with two games remaining in the regular season. Morehead State is in ninth place with a record of 11-14 overall and 5-9 in the OVC.

The hot shooting Eagles jumped to an 11 points, 44-33 halftime lead. Morehead connected on 17-26 first half shots and was 3-5 from three and 7-8 from the line.

Southeast scored the first eight points of the second half to pull within three at 44-41, but never got closer as Morehead pulled away.

Dainmon Gonner led four Southeast players in double figures with 23 points while Derek Winans had 15 and Reggie Golson and Terrick Willoughby each 11.

Quinton Smith led Morehead with 23 points.

Southeast closes the regular season with two games at the Show Me Center, hosting Murray State on Thursday and Tennessee-Martin on Saturday. Both games begin at 7:30 p.m.
