Ypsilanti, Mich. - Guards Carlos Medlock and Jared Axon combined for 53 points to lead Eastern Michigan to an 86-82 win over Southeast Missouri State in an ESPNU BracketBuster game.

Axon had 29 points including 5-11 from three and 8-8 from the line while Medlock had 24 points including 2-5 from three and 16-18 from the line.

Southeast Missouri jumped to an early 12-2 lead and led 31-21 with 4:14 remaining in the half. Eastern Michigan rallied with a 13-4 run at the end of the half to trail by only one, 35-34, at the half.

The Eagles of the Mid American Conference started the second half with an 11-2 run to go up 45-37 with 15:36 remaining in the game. That gave EMU an advantage of 24-6 over the final four minutes of the first half and the first four minutes of the second half.

Once taking the lead, the Eagles never trailed again behind the free throw shooting of Maclock and Axon.

Jaycen Herring paced Southeast, 12-17, with 19 points while Kenard Moore added 18 on 6-12 from three. Freshman Will Bogan had 14 points and five rebounds in just 19 minutes played.

Eastern Michigan, 11-15, made 33-41 free throws while the Redhawks connected on 20-27 from the line.

The Redhawks remain in the running for a berth in the OVC tournament. Southeast is 7-11 in the OVC with two games remaining, needing two win home games against Samford and Jacksonville State and a little help to make the eight-team tournament field.
