Redhawks Conclude Season With 86-83 Loss to Jacksonville State

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Jacksonville State defeated Southeast, 86-83, Saturday night at the Show Me Center. The loss marks the end to the 2007 season for the Redhawks (12-19, 7-13). The Gamecocks (5-15, 7-22) withstood a second half charge to hold on for the three-point victory.

Nick Murphy led Jacksonville State to a 42-36 halftime lead with 12 first half points and six rebounds. DeAndre Bray added nine points in the initial 20 minutes.

Kenard Moore led the Redhawks with nine points, all from behind the arc, in the first half. Senior David Johnson, playing his last game in a Southeast uniform, scored eight in the first period.

The Redhawks closed the gap in the second half and trailed 84-81 with 21 seconds remaining following a free throw by Will Ginn of JSU. Johnson and Kenard Moore both got off three-point attempts on the following possession but both shots rattled out. Erik Adams sealed it up for the Gamecocks with two free throws.

Murphy registered a double-double with 22 points and 11 rebounds. Jonathon Toles, Ginn, Bray and Erik Adams all scored in double figures for the Gamecocks.

Moore led Southeast with a game-high 23 points on 9-18 shooting, including five treys. Johnson scored a season-high 17 points in his final game. Michael Rembert scored 13 and grabbed six boards to finish his collegiate career.

Seniors Brandon Foust, Johnson and Rembert were all honored during a pregame ceremony.

The Redhawks finish the season 12-19 overall and 7-13 in Ohio Valley Conference play.
