Season Ends With Loss To Morehead State, 91-84

MOREHEAD, Ky. (AP) - Ricky Minard had 30 points and 12 rebounds to lead Morehead State to a 91-84 win over Southeast Missouri in the first round of the Ohio Valley Conference tournament Tuesday night.

Minard, who had 19 of his points in the second half, tipped the ball away from Southeast's Demarcus Hence with Morehead State (20-8) ahead 87-84. Minard flipped the ball to Chez Marks, who was fouled while shooting a layup.

Marks made two free throws and added two more later as Morehead State hung on for its 20th win, the most for the Eagles since 1984.

Southeast Missouri (11-19) used 7-of-11 shooting from 3-point range in the second half to chip away at Morehead's lead.

Minard took over a sluggish Morehead State offense in the second half. He made one of two free throws with 4:23 remaining to put the Eagles in front 81-68.

Southeast Missouri charged back by hitting 3-pointers on four consecutive possessions, including two from Brett Hale who finished with 24 points.

Marks scored 22 points for Morehead State, which led 52-37 at halftime after holding as much as a 22-point advantage.

Demetrius King scored 18, Derek Winans 15 and Hence 13 for Southeast Missouri.
