Southeast Falls in Ohio Valley Conference Semi-Finals :: Eastern Kentucky advances to finals with a 69-52 win

Nashville, Tenn. - Eastern Kentucky advanced to the Ohio Valley Conference basketball tournament finals with a 69-52 win over Southeast Missouri State. The loss ended the Redhawks season with a record of 15-14. EKU, 21-8, will meet Austin Peay in the tourney finals.

The Colonels jumped to a 35-23 halftime lead and never let Southeast get closer than 11 points in the second half. Matt Witt led the Colonels with 19 points. Reggie Golson led Southeast with 23 points while Dainmon Gonner added 17 points and a game-high 10 rebounds.

"You have to give Eastern Kentucky credit," said Southeast coach Gary Garner. "They have an excellent team and they played well tonight. We had a bad night and it is disappointing. This team overcame a lot of adversity to advance to Nashville and it is just unfortunate that we close the season with a bad performance."
